Available for sale in October, the twin detachable speakers separate from the base and put out a good sound 100-150 feet away for about five hours of use after charging for three hours. This means being able to play your music wherever you want, no wires required!

The base unit has a DC adapter and can be used to charge the following iPod models: 2G nano, nano-3G, Classic/Touch 30/80 GB Video, and Classic 60/160 GB Video.

The base unit does include a line-in jack for other types of players and a channel control to compensate for any wireless signal interference and static during play. The two speakers have their own volume controls on them so you can adjust them according to how close one is compared to the other. The base unit also has a master up or down volume control.

With wireless devices, you never know how good the sound quality is going to be, but the HMDX-S50 put out a very pleasing sound without a lot of annoying static, allowing the iPod to blast my favorite playlists for hours of enjoyment. The unit produces an enhanced acoustic resonance precision sound that is true to your music.

The HMDX-S50 is a good price considering you’ll find small iPod sound systems with the speakers confined to the physical players for just a few dollars less.
